Overview
The Alaska State Capitol is a brick and marble office building in downtown Juneau. It has no dome and looks more like a federal office building than a typical capitol.
History
The building was completed in 1931 as the Federal and Territorial Building and became the state capitol when Alaska became a state in 1959.
Today
The Legislature meets here each winter and spring. Juneau cannot be reached by road, so visitors arrive by air or sea.
