Overview
Buck Owens' Crystal Palace is a concert venue, restaurant and museum in Bakersfield, built by the country singer Buck Owens to celebrate the city's music.
History
In the 1950s and 1960s, Bakersfield musicians such as Buck Owens and Merle Haggard developed the "Bakersfield sound", a twangy, honky-tonk style that contrasted with the polished Nashville sound. Owens opened the Crystal Palace in 1996 and often performed there. He died in 2006, hours after playing on its stage.
Today
The venue hosts live country music and displays memorabilia from Owens's career.
