Overview
Cape Coral is laid out around a network of more than 400 miles of man-made canals, giving many homes direct boat access to the Caloosahatchee River and the Gulf.
History
Brothers Leonard and Jack Rosen began developing Cape Coral in 1957 as a planned waterfront community, digging canals through former ranch and swamp land. The city was incorporated in 1970 and grew into one of the largest cities in Southwest Florida.
Today
Boating shapes daily life in Cape Coral, and waterfront homes, marinas and boat traffic are part of the city's character.
