Overview

Brickell is Miami's financial district, a dense neighborhood of bank offices, condo towers, hotels and restaurants along Biscayne Bay.

History

The area is named for William and Mary Brickell, who settled at the mouth of the Miami River in the 1870s. Brickell Avenue became a street of mansions and later of office towers, as Miami grew into an international banking center.

Today

Brickell City Centre and dozens of towers make it one of Miami's busiest areas, with many lobby, residential and retail security posts.
