History
Walt Disney World opened on October 1, 1971, transforming the region. Universal Studios Florida followed in 1990, and Universal's Epic Universe opened in 2025.
Today
The parks, their hotels and the businesses around them form the core of the region's economy and one of the largest concentrations of hospitality and security jobs in the country.
