Overview

Columbus has a whitewater rafting course on the Chattahoochee River right in its downtown, created by removing old mill dams.

History

Two dams that once powered textile mills were removed in the early 2010s, restoring the river's natural rapids. The course opened to rafters in 2013.

Today

Rafting, kayaking and ziplining across the river have made downtown Columbus an outdoor-adventure destination.
