Overview
Brockton calls itself the "City of Champions" because two of the greatest boxers ever, Rocky Marciano and Marvelous Marvin Hagler, came from the city.
History
Rocky Marciano retired as heavyweight champion in 1956 with an unbeaten record. Marvin Hagler, who trained in Brockton, was middleweight champion in the 1980s. A large statue of Marciano stands in the city.
