Overview
Lake Ray Hubbard is a large reservoir on the East Fork of the Trinity River, east of Dallas. It provides water to the City of Dallas and is a popular spot for boating and fishing.
History
The reservoir was first called Forney Lake. After the City of Dallas took it over, it was renamed for Ray Hubbard, who led the Dallas park board from 1943 to 1972. Its dam was completed in 1969, and the lake reached its full size by 1970. Interstate 30 crosses the lake on a long causeway.
Today
Marinas, parks and lakeside neighborhoods line the shores in Garland, Rowlett and Rockwall.
