Overview

The World Trade Bridge is a commercial truck crossing between Laredo and Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. It handles a very large share of the truck freight crossing the U.S.–Mexico border.

History

The bridge opened in 2000 to move commercial truck traffic away from downtown crossings. Its traffic has grown with cross-border manufacturing, and both countries have invested in more inspection lanes.

Today

U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspects trucks at the bridge, and long lines of tractor-trailers are a daily sight. The surrounding area is full of warehouses, trailer yards and logistics facilities.
