Overview
Port Tampa Bay is Florida's largest port by cargo tonnage, handling fuel, bulk cargo, containers and cruise passengers.
History
Tampa's port grew with phosphate mining, cigar making and railroads in the late 1800s. A port authority was created in 1945 to manage the harbor.
Today
Cruise terminals sit near downtown, and fuel and bulk terminals line the bay. Access to regulated terminals generally requires a TWIC card.
