Overview
Six Flags Over Texas is a theme park in Arlington and the original park of the Six Flags chain. Its name refers to the six national flags that have flown over Texas: Spain, France, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, the Confederacy and the United States.
History
The developer Angus G. Wynne Jr. opened the park in 1961, with themed areas based on the six flags. It grew into a regional destination known for its roller coasters, and the Six Flags company expanded nationwide. In 2024, Six Flags merged with Cedar Fair.
Today
The park runs a seasonal schedule, with large crowds in summer and at Halloween and holiday events.
