Overview
Sundance Square is a 35-block district of shops, restaurants, offices and entertainment venues in downtown Fort Worth, centered on a public plaza that opened in 2013.
History
The name recalls the Sundance Kid, who, according to local legend, spent time in the city's rough 19th-century district known as Hell's Half Acre. The Bass family began restoring and redeveloping the area's historic buildings in the 1980s. A large trompe-l'oeil mural of a Chisholm Trail cattle drive, painted by Richard Haas, became one of its landmarks.
Today
Sundance Square Plaza hosts concerts, holiday events and gatherings. Nearby Bass Performance Hall, which opened in 1998, presents opera, symphony and touring shows.
